The Gold Coin Bar, located adjacent to the Easy Street Casino is a Victorian landmark in Central City. In many ways, it is a living museum, where you can sit on a stool where generations of miners have enjoyed countless libations and share the experience of the hand-carved bar, numerous examples of taxidermy and a real nickelodeon piano.
You can try your hand at throwing a dollar on the ceiling for the opportunity to be invited to Central City’s only “Bringing down the ceiling party” each June. This fun event has evolved from a legend that tells us how the miners’ took care of their own in days gone past. The legend goes that on each pay day, the miners would toss a bill onto the ceiling (or a coin into a spittoon) for a fund for miners’ families when one was lost in this very dangerous occupation.
So, come on in. Take a seat on a stool that may have been inhabited by the likes of Doc Holiday or Billy the Kid and enjoy a few moments within Central City’s rich history.
